For quite a long time now, a few developers in the jailbreak community have been working on a full Cydia replacement called Sileo. With Cydia purchases being permanently disabled recently, the need for a replacement has never been greater. After many months of development, a public beta of Sileo is finally available for everyone to try.
In order to install the public beta of Sileo on your device, you need to make sure you are using the correct iOS version and jailbreak tool. Your device needs to be jailbroken on iOS 11.2 to 11.3.1 using the latest version of Electra (v1.1.0) – not unc0ver. If you are using an older version of Electra, or the unc0ver jailbreak, make sure to install the latest version of Electra and re-jailbreak before attempting to install Sileo (see how here). For the time being, Sileo can only be used alongside the latest Electra jailbreak, but support is likely to expand to other jailbreaks and iOS versions as development continues.
Once you are running all the correct software, Sileo public beta can be downloaded from the Electra repo that is in Cydia by default. You should look for a package called ‘Sileo (Beta)’. Once installed, exit Cydia and you should have the Sileo app on your home screen.
It is important to bear in mind that this is very much a beta application, therefore bugs and missing features are to be expected. For the most part, the application looks and functions very well, offering a much more welcoming interface for newcomers than Cydia. Purchases can be made through Sileo, but currently only for packages from the Dynastic repo. More repos will add support for Sileo purchases as development continues.
